79th International Conference on VIBROENGINEERING is held in Kaunas, Lithuania — the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Academician Kazimieras Ragulskis, whose work laid the foundations of vibration engineering in Lithuania and shaped the field internationally.

The conference follows the established Vibroengineering format: peer-reviewed contributions, keynote lectures from invited scientists drawn from the journal's editorial board and the wider community, and a single full day of presentations followed by a commemorative gala dinner. Accepted contributions are published in Vibroengineering Procedia, indexed in Scopus, EI Compendex, Gale Cengage, Google Scholar and EBSCO.

This edition carries an additional purpose: to gather, in one room, the colleagues, students, and intellectual successors of a man who spent his life on the mechanics of motion — and to look forward, through a new award for young researchers carrying his name.

A Guiding Star in Science: From Vibroengineering to Global Industry and Brain Protection
Prof. Ragauskas will reflect on how the scientific ideas and foundations of Kazimieras Ragulskis and the Lithuanian school of vibroengineering helped shape a journey from vibroengineering to globally recognized technologies and brain protection.
Prof. Ragauskas is known for pioneering non-invasive brain monitoring technologies, including methods for measuring intracranial pressure without invasive procedures. His scientific work has resulted in numerous international patents, more than 130 publications, and thousands of citations worldwide. In 2016, he became the first Lithuanian scientist to be named a finalist for the European Inventor Award.

Vibrational Resonance in Vibroengineering
Over the past two decades, vibrational resonance has emerged as an important phenomenon in nonlinear dynamics, with increasing relevance to engineering applications. It describes the amplification of a weak low-frequency signal through the constructive interaction between nonlinear dynamics and an auxiliary high-frequency excitation. In this talk, we briefly introduce the basic mechanism of vibrational resonance using the Duffing oscillator as a paradigmatic model, showing how fast forcing can modify the effective slow dynamics and enhance the system response. We then connect these ideas with nonlinear mechanical systems, where the controlled use of vibrations may improve weak-signal detection and enhance characteristic dynamical responses. Particular attention is given to vibration-based sensing and fault diagnosis, where weak signatures can otherwise be difficult to identify. These examples illustrate how vibrational resonance provides a natural bridge between fundamental nonlinear dynamics and problems of practical interest in mechanical engineering and vibroengineering.

Kaunas University of Technology

Kaunas University of Technology had its beginning on 16 February 1922, when the University of Lithuania and its technical faculties were established. The development of Lithuanian scientific ideas continued in the first Lithuanian independent technical school of higher education (in 1950–1990 titled Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (KPI)). It was famous for the ultrasound and vibrotechnics laboratories, and scientific research of textiles. In 1990 KTU regained its status of the university and took a path of rapid reforms of studies and research. The University continues to pursue sustainable partnership of science, business and industry, develops and implements new ideas, innovations and inventions.

Lithuanian Academy of Sciences

The Lithuanian Academy of Sciences was founded on January 16, 1941, and operates under its Charter ratified by the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania. It brings together distinguished Lithuanian and foreign scientists whose academic interests are related to Lithuania. The Academy serves as an independent expert and consultant to the Seimas, the Government, and its agencies on various issues, including research, higher education, culture, social development, economy, environmental protection, health care, and technology. Additionally, the Academy collaborates with 26 foreign academies and research centers, and it oversees the Wróblewski Library.

The Research Council of Lithuania (RCL) is the national institution responsible for implementing Lithuania’s science and studies policy. RCL contributes to the dissemination of information about this initiative but is not involved in its organisation.
